The position is in the Property Management Division with Lifecycle Management of the Logistics Service in VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System and supported catchment area. The primary purpose of the position is to ensure that non-expendable (NX) supplies and materials are distributed to areas serviced by Supply Chain Management (SCM). Provides service lines and other hospital functional areas with equipment and material. Scans, barcodes, receives, stores, and distributes NX items.

Duties

Major duties include, but are not limited to: Reviews existing stock and manufacturers' catalogs, manuals, and listings to obtain substitute or interchangeable items to supply in lieu of items requisitioned. Works with customers and SCM staff on the proper identification of items to be substituted. Communicates with customers and vendors to obtain information regarding availability and functionality of non-expendable equipment and supplies. Identifies gaps and/or discrepancies and provides information on new or changed items and equipment, through periodic inventory assessments and discussions with service line staff and clinical personnel. Provides guidance to customers on identification of material through research of original equipment manufacturers part catalog for part numbers, descriptions, and size of parts needed. Performs research on old manufacturers code and part numbers, covering requisitioned material. Processes applicable catalog update transactions in accordance with current published procedures, as required and based on response to Requests for National Stock Number. Interacts with clinical and administrative customers. Coordinates drop off of new or transferred equipment and pick up of turn-in equipment. Processes receipt and turn-in transaction to record in the equipment system. Distributes items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized systems of record. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: 07:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/26/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education s described below: Specialized Experience (GS-05): You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: providing equipment and material to clinical and administrative areas of a health care facility; scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing and distributing equipment and related material; utilizing an automated system to maintain equipment records; and answering customer questions regarding non-expendable equipment and materials. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years of education above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Transcript Required). OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond 60 semester hours (2 years) is creditable. If you qualify by a combination, your experience must be detailed in your resume and transcripts are required. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending, and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). With proper assistance, moves heavier items weighing over 40 pounds. This level of physical demands occurs, for example, when employees are regularly assigned to activities such as tracing misplaced items or conducting physical inventories in warehouses, and other storage areas, or when they are regularly involved in stocking and retrieving items from shelves and cabinets.
