This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.
Duties
Assist lower grade employees in performing installation, assembly and operation of electronic controlled industrial production machinery.
Use various hand, power and shop tools common to the trade of an electronic industrial controls mechanic.
Communicate with manufacturer's representatives regarding modification/upgrades to obsolete machinery/parts and apply from instructions received.
Assist lower grade employees in using appropriate test equipment to troubleshoot complex electronic controlled production machinery.
Apply fundamental of computer concepts when troubleshooting and repairing electronic subassemblies and components.
Analyze or interpreted data in order to repair or modify complex electronic production machinery utilizing blueprints/diagrams, schematics and perform final testing for proper operation.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires satisfactory completion of a pre-employment and annual medical examination.
- Must possess and be able to maintain a valid state driver's license.
- This position requires 5% TDY travel.

This position is a TERM, 1 year 1 day, position.
This is a temporary position and may be extended up to a maximum of eight (8) years.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic (MVO) ~ without more than normal supervision. I can serve as a worker responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and installing complex electrical and electronic systems that are a crucial to part of the infrastructure, Numerically Controlled (NC) equipment, Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) equipment, electronic components/parts, and a variety of electronic test equipment associated with the industrial waste treatment plant and depot building structures. Exercise a thorough knowledge of the depot industrial waste treatment plant equipment, CNC computer programming for reloading the executive computer program, fiber optics, depot security systems, fire alarm systems, and (3) phase motor controls.

Physical Effort: Work involves walking, standing, bending and working in awkward positions. Frequently handles and lifts items weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally may lift an item weighing up to 60 pounds.
Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in buildings that are moderately heated and occasionally outside where there is exposure to weather elements. Buildings have concrete floors and there is noise from running machinery. There is possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns and electrical shock. Since exposure to hazardous material/waste is possible, wares protective clothing and safety equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, ear plugs, etc.
