This position is located in the Resident Services, Recreation Division at the Armed Forces Retirement Home. The primary purpose of this position is to manage the agency's library and its' adjoining services (computer lab and computer/game rooms, the movie program and the music/listening room).

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifications: All librarians must meet at least one of the requirements below.
- Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree;
OR
- A total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services.
AND
For the GS-9, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Experience in interpreting and adapting to guidelines (e.g. library and agency information policies, regulations, operating procedures, and cataloging rules and formats, etc); AND
- Experience maintaining up-to-date information for the interests and needs of a geriatric community.
OR
- 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education or master's in library science or equivalent graduate degree, e.g., LL.B. or J.D., related to the position.
OR
- A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit transcripts with your application. (Graduate education beyond the first 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours can be combined with GS-7 level experience)
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-9, you must have been at the GS-7 level for 52 weeks
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
Education
Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
