About the Position: This position is located at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska for the Defense Health Agency (DHA).
A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized.

Federal employees in Alaska are currently entitled to receive a 2.01% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. This is subject to change.

Duties
Provide service for the 673rd Cancer registry for all patients diagnosed and/or treated at the 673rd Medical Group arid serve as the regional cancer registry for all Pacific Air Force medical treatment facilities (MTF's).
Oversee ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to the organization's policies and procedures covering Cancer Registry data quality, documentation specialist, compliance, etc.
Establish and maintain cancer registry files in accordance with accreditation requirements of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Joint Commission.
Utilize the OncoLog Cancer Registry reporting system to register patient cancer information and data.
Collect and analyze data on all reportable diagnoses.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive data system sufficient to meet the needs and standards of cancer registry operations and needs of the user.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing one or more of any of the following: 1) reviewing medical records to ensure diagnoses and procedures are properly documented or coded per agency regulatory requirements; 2) analyzing medical coding for adequacy or procedural problems; 3) utilizing automated medical record systems to retrieve or input medical coding information; 4) assisting with the training on proper documentation and coding procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: such as Medical Records Administration. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
