Duties
Serves as a Training Officer/Work Leader for Ramp Services Branch for various courses associated with aviation safety, operations, procedures, support equipment operations and flight line hazards.
Selects and assigns workers, work methods, and priorities received from the Ramp Services Supervisor. Oversees work operations and subordinates and is accountable for quality and quantity of work done.
Provides pre/post aircraft taxi inspections, recognize potentially hazardous flight safety mechanical problems, leads in the marshalling, parking, securing and ground services of various types and sizes of aircraft (fixed wing and rotor wing).
Assures Ramp Safety procedures and policies are followed with aircraft, vehicles, aircraft support equipment operation, maintenance, and all other ramp activities. Serves as Ramp Services Safety Representative.
Incumbent may be detailed to points within the continental United States and Alaska assisting governmental organizations, providing airfield management and aircraft operations programs in support of incident operations.
Regularly operates and performs scheduled mechanical maintenance on various types and kinds of aircraft support equipment and vehicles.

OPM Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations will be used in determining your qualifications. There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate through experience shown in the resume materials, that you possess the skill level that has equipped you with the particular job elements to successfully perform the duties of the Aircraft Attendant Training Leader without more than normal supervision.
Selective Placement Factors (SPFs):
This position requires a special qualification that has been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as a screen out element. Those who do not provide evidence they possess the following selective factor(s) will be rated not qualified:
1. Incumbent must possess current Red Card Qualification under the Incident Qualifications Certification System (IQCS) in:
Ramp Manager (RAMP) AND
Fixed Wing Parking Tender (FWPT).
2. Screen-out Element: Ability to lead or supervise
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Demands:
Attendant's duties require an active individual. Work involves standing on asphalt surfaces for prolonged periods, lifting of cumbersome and unusually shaped items, sometimes exceeding 50 pounds. The incumbent works on maintenance stands and ladders capable of exceeding 10 - 14 feet in height, remaining in bent, squatted and prone positions in close quarters for extended periods of time. Climbing about, in and on fuselages, wings, cargo pits and landing gear wheel wells of various types and sizes of aircraft.
Work Environment:
When not working inside on administrative or training duties the incumbent works outside, around reciprocating and running jet aircraft engines in all weather conditions. Weather may heighten the hazardous exposure to injury, falls, electrical shock, burns, cuts, bruises, strains, broken bones, respiratory, skin and eye irritants. Other injury hazards are fluids under high pressure (greater than 3000 psi), falling from aircraft work stands, ladders, oily and slippery surfaces, falling and shifting objects, and working beneath heavy mobile equipment on jack stands during periodic and required maintenance periods. Incumbent is exposed to critical and hazardous environment where mental orientation and physical awareness may be
affected by high intensity, high frequency sound waves, chemical burns, toxic and explosive fumes, rotating propeller blades, jet engine suction air intake and exhaust.
This is a career seasonal position. You will be in pay status for at least 6 months, but less than 12 months per calendar year. When work and/or funds are unavailable, you will be placed into non-pay status. Pay status may be less than 6 months during initial appointment.
THIS IS A DRUG TESTING DESIGNATED POSITION in accordance with Executive Order 12564, and under the Department's Drug Free Workplace Program. Applicant(s) tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use and to pass the test prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.

There is no substitution of education for experience for Federal Wage System positions (WG, WL, or WS).
