Duties
As a State Director, you will:
Review and assimilate available information on local, state and national issues related to the Department's programs, policies, or specific actions of interest to the Regional Administrator (RA).
Advise and assist the RA in the resolution of cross-cutting policy and program problems.
Assist the RA in managing and coordinating HUD's field response to local area disasters and recovery/rebuilding efforts (in accordance with Departmental policy, and ensuring the submission of any required daily situation reports, and/or coordinating reports).
Develop and maintain beneficial relations with local congressional offices and local officials.
Assist in the development of innovative and/or effective approaches and place-based solutions, to help build local capacity within state and local agencies, organizations, grantees, stakeholders and other organizations and individuals that operate within a community to ensure a more effective or efficient delivery of HUD programs.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Analyzing community development or housing programs to recommend solutions or improvements.
Examples of this could include:
Involved in the trainings or plans for disaster preparation.; OR
Writing reports outlining community program findings and recommending appropriate actions to resolve problems and assure goal accomplishment.; OR
Working with programs for persons living in poverty and working to help improve their outreach.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
