This position is located within the Environmental Management Services Division of a VA Medical Center. This position is under the direct supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor or designee. This position performs both janitorial and custodial services at the VA Medical Center located in Orlando, FL.

Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Reports to supervisor on status and progress of work, assures that safety rules and housekeeping procedures are followed, advises assigned employees to follow instructions from supervisors and meets work deadlines.
Assures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed to include the daily cleaning of the linen and pack rooms.
Collaborate with other workers and set the pace for work to be accomplished.
Demonstrate proper work methods and provide training to new assigned or developmental employees in the unit.
Responsible for setting the pace and leading the Housekeeping Aids WG-2's either in special routine cleaning assignments throughout the medical center or overall housekeeping operations.
Represent the acting supervisor in his or her absence to manage the shift and staff as needed.
Monitors that Housekeeping Aids perform workload as assigned by supervisor using Environmental Service Computer Tools (ESCT).
Interprets information and instructions from supervisors to other employees, works with other employees to give on-the-job training, demonstrates proper work methods, assures adequate equipment and supplies needed for assignments are obtained and available for use.
Provides direction to assigned workers on procedures, policies, and other VA directives.
Maintain a current knowledge and answering questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives.
Inspects work while in progress and when finished to see whether instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines have been met.
Processes materials necessary to the performance of work are available to include maintaining an inventory of linens, uniforms and any other supplies significant to the operation of the linen room.
Work Schedule: 7:00am-3:30pm, 3:00pm-11:30am, 11:00pm-7:30am, with possible weekends and holidays and rotating tours, based on the needs of the service and medical center.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: The position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial type buffers) weighing over 50 pounds. The duties necessitate considerable dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination, and concentration as well as visual acuity to see dirt, dust and debris.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed indoors with adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Some work may be performed outdoors where there may be exposed to varying degrees of heat and cold as well as inclement weather. PPE may be required in some circumstance as exposure to possible contagious diseases, blood and bloody secretion are inherent to this position. Care is required to avoid serious injuries (i.e., broken bones) when working on ladders, or when using 30-100-pound power equipment or handling hazardous materials.
