This SHEETMETAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT) position, is located in a Transportation Aircraft Repair Shop (TARS) which supports 10 to 15 States with backup unit maintenance, intermediate support maintenance and limited depot maintenance and is part of the CA 1106 TASMG.
Duties
THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE POSITION.
Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered.
The primary purpose of the SHEETMETAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT), WG-3806-10, is to perform sheet metal maintenance on aircraft and components.
Qualifications
General Experience: Possess experience or training that has provided the ability to remove, repair, modify, and install parts and assemblies, such as frames, stringers, longerons, bulkheads, beams, ribs, spars, skin, cowling, brackets, faring, access doors, panels and other related items.
SHEETMETAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT), WG-3806-10: Must have at least 18 months experience in layout, bending, cutting, forming and assembling to manufacture items of aircraft and equipment; Experience using more complicated shop tools and equipment; Experience in using metals including stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb material and alloys; Experience demonstrating the use of more complicated mathematical calculations and complicated measuring instruments.
