Duties
Major Duties of Budget Analyst GS-0506-09
The incumbent serves as a technical specialist for budgetary matters for the parks, or group of parks, fire management program and will perform a wide variety of budget, statistical, computer and clerical duties in addition to assisting with incident finance for in-park wild land or prescribed fire. Duties include: a) performing various analytical and data entry tasks related to the formulation, execution and adjustments of the fire divisions budget including, but not limited to the preparation of status of funds reports, processing utility bills, making/tracking purchases and deposits; b) processing travel authorizations and vouchers; c) performing a variety of clerical duties including answering telephone calls, input and adjustment of time and attendance records, personnel requisitions, finance, travel, supplies, equipment and various other matters. Administrative activities will also include processing of property inventory, and maintenance of various files. Incumbent will provide technical advice to others in preparing financial plans and setting up operating budgets and will conduct review to ensure expenditures are within approved funding levels and follow wild land fire budget policy.

If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount qualified specialized experience.
Applicants must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by the close of the announcement:
A. Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Examples of such experience include: tracking expenditures by proper accounts and type; providing information on salary calculations and employment ceilings for incorporation into budget planning, preparation, and execution; analyzing and evaluating changes in program plans and funding and their affect on the budget; and preparing financial reports consistent with regulations and guidelines.

B. Completed two full years of graduate level study leading to a masters or equivalent degree that is directly related to this position and has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Such fields may include business administration, economics, accounting, governmental budgeting, and public administration.

C. Equivalent combination of such education and experience. For example, I have six months of specialized experience (50% of the experience requirement), and 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours or the number of credit hours the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study is considered to be equal to 1 full year of graduate education (50% of education requirement).

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
