The Wage and Hour Division (WHD) is an essential labor law enforcement agency responsible for enforcing significant labor laws affecting nearly 150 million workers. Our mission is to protect rights related to minimum wage, overtime, child labor, family and medical leave, employment conditions for migrant workers, lie detector tests, garnishments, prevailing wages on government-funded contracts, labor provisions of several guest worker programs, and more.

Duties

Bilingual - Spanish and English language fluency is REQUIRED. You will be interviewed in both Spanish and English and you may be required to read/write and/or translate documents from Spanish to English and vice versa. Further consideration will not be given if you fail to demonstrate fluency in both English and Spanish. This is a developmental position. The career ladder progression is GS-07/8/9. In the developmental grade levels, the employee will carry out a variety of assignments as a continuation of their training and development, with duties being performed under closer than normal supervision. As the employee progresses, the assignments will become more difficult and complex in preparation to fully perform the duties at the full performance level (GS-09). As a Wage and Hour Technician, duties will consist of but is not limited to the following:

Requirements

• Requires a valid driver's license.
• Bilingual - English/Spanish is required.
• Must be at least 16 years old and a U.S. Citizen.
• Candidate required to obtain and maintain the necessary security/investigation level.
• Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.

Qualifications

A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Education

This position has no education requirements and there is no substitution of education for specialized experience at this grade level. Applicants must possess the required specialized experience.
