About the Position: This position is located at Lower Monumental Lock & Dam which is located on the Lower Snake River near the rural community of Kahlotus, WA. The project lies within commuting distance from several other communities of varying sizes. These areas include the rural towns of Connell, Prescott, and Waitsburg and the larger city of Walla Walla.

Duties

Perform problem investigation on fish passage facilities. Identify presence and sources of fish way contaminants and recommends corrective action. Conduct daily inspection of fish ways to insure proper performance of system. Review fish counts and coordinate corrective action with required organizations Assist in writing reports and letters for the unit.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Pre-employment physical is required.
  • Valid state driver's license required.
  • This position requires heavy lifting of up to 45lbs.

OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Fishery BiologyProject ManagementTechnical CompetenceTechnology Application Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
