You will serve as an EMERGENCY DISPATCHER in the PROVOST MARSHAL OFFICE of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION YUMA.
Duties
You will confirm the location and type of emergency (e.g., type of fire, medical emergency, vehicle accident) to dispatch manpower and vehicles required for the situation.
You will monitor the status of emergency services and personnel to determine the availability of fire, medical, and police response units.
Use a dispatch communication software program (e.g., Computer Aided Dispatch [CAD], Automated Location Information [ALI], two-way radio console, automated alarm transmitting equipment) in emergency situations to communicate dispatch instructions.
You will explain information to emergency personnel (e.g., law enforcement, emergency medical services [EMS], fire personnel) to dispatch personnel to the reported incident.

- Must be capable of obtaining Department of Defense (DOD) certification as a Telecommunicator I and II. Employee has 6 months from their entrance on duty to obtain certification.
- Must be capable of obtaining certification for “Hazardous Material Awareness”. Employee has 6 months from their entrance on duty to obtain certification.
- Must be capable of obtaining a Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification and maintain the certification by recertifying every 2 years. Employee has 6 months from their entrance on duty to obtain certification.
- Must be capable of obtaining an Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) certification and maintain the certification by recertifying every 2 years. Employee has 6 months from their entrance on duty to obtain certification.
- Must be capable of obtaining an Emergency Fire Dispatcher (EFD) certification and maintain the certification by recertifying every 2 years. Employee has 6 months from their entrance on duty to obtain certification.
- Must be capable of obtaining an Emergency Police Dispatcher (EPD) certification and maintain the certification by recertifying every 2 years. Employee has 6 months from their entrance on duty to obtain certification.
- Must be capable of obtaining an NCIC or National Crime Information Center certification Level B and maintain the certification by recertifying every 2 years. Employee has 6 months from their entrance on duty to obtain certification.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following Emergency Dispatcher duties: 1) Dispatching emergency vehicles; 2) Performing incoming and outgoing multi-phone line operations; 3) Assessing incoming emergency calls with Standard Operating Procedures or guidelines to determine the proper course of action; and 4) Dispatching in a high volume/urgent environment.
