Located in the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Center for Information Technology (CIT), Office of IT Services Management (OITSM), IT Support Services (ITSS). Those with experience providing white glove Executive Support Services to high-level officials and possess a combination of soft skills, and strong technology skills, including strategic thinking, effective communication, and a passion for mentoring and coaching in a consistently fast-paced environment are encouraged to apply.
Duties
Manages special projects that have a significant impact on the delivery of customer support services.
Represents customer support office in planning for the installation and implementation of new systems.
Designs, develops, and implements a wide range of complex hardware and software to support large-scale LAN/WAN systems.
Ensures the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems administration services.
Represents the organization in meetings and discussions with vendors and/or intra agency advisory committees to resolve problems.
Works with other agency experts in the design and installation of hardware and software for new network or for major modifications to existing network(s).
Requirements

Qualifications
To qualify for an Information Technology Specialist position, you must have IT-related experience as described below. The experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.IT-related experience must demonstrate each of the four competencies listed below:
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that you work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
AND to qualify at the GS-13 level:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal Government performing the following types of tasks: evaluating specifications and features of new products, performing product comparisons, feasibility and cost benefit analyses, and performance and compatibility testing; implement a range of IT customer support services such as desktop and office systems, hardware and software, software licensing, configuration management, and security requirements, etc.; performing and evaluating configurations of operations to determine the causes of problems and recommending management actions to restore quality services; and developing plans and performance criteria for the installation and implementation of new IT systems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
