This position is responsible for the delivery of Whole Health Coaching and skill development of the local Medical Center's Whole Health Coach program, including provision of care through coaching and promotion and education regarding Whole Health Coaching to Veterans and staff.

Duties

Major Duties: Responsible for the delivery of Whole Health Coaching, including provision of care through coaching and promotion and education regarding Whole Health Coaching to Veterans and staff. Supporting Veterans in navigating the Whole Health Journey, specifically through the Pathway, wellbeing, and Whole Health clinical care elements of the Whole Health System, as well as assisting in the collection of whole health qualitative data from Veterans and creation of reports analyzing effectiveness of health coaching. Provides care to Veterans seeking self-directed, lasting changes aligned with their values. They provide interventions that promote health and wellness and enhance well-being, improve health related outcomes, reduce likelihood of inpatient admission, and improve quality of life. Health Coaches work with Veterans on identifying the Veterans' motivation for change, determining goals for their work together, developing treatment plans to reach these goals, implementing those treatment plans, and assessing progress in order to adjust plans as necessary. Provide information on the relationship between lifestyle and health outcomes, exploring behaviors that increase the risk of developing or worsening chronic disease and those that reduce the likelihood of chronic illness. Support clients in mobilizing internal strengths and external resources and develops self-management strategies for making sustainable, healthy lifestyle behavior changes and more effectively managing chronic disease. Performs other duties as assigned. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Qualifications

You must meet the Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) with the following: Experience: Must possess four (4) years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that I have acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field of the position. NOTE: Your experience must be fully documented in your resume and must include job title; duties; month & year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. (Details of your work history must be provided in your resume; failure to supply sufficient details may result in not meeting the basic requirements for this position) OR Education: Must successfully completed a full four (4) year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or higher, with a major study in behavioral science, social science, or related disciplines appropriate to this position. The number of semester hours required to constitute a major field of study is the amount specified by the college or university attended. If this number cannot be obtained, 24 semester hours will be considered as equivalent to a major field of study. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Must possess a combination of education and experience that provided me with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field of the position. (Transcript AND Details of your work history must be provided in your resume; failure to supply sufficient details may result in not meeting the basic requirements for this position) In addition to meeting the IOR, you may qualify based on your experience and/or education for the following: For GS-07: Must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal Service that equips me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience may includes: reviewing current research literature related to health and wellness, including behaviors that promote wellness and those that are detrimental; determining the impact on the customer service program and related support resources in the area studied in order to assist Veterans in getting additional support or care when it is required, as well as navigate the personalized health inventory, personalized health planning, components of health and well-being, and existing organization and community resources that support Veterans? personalized health goals, as well as other health and well-being programs available at a facility or in the community to support their personal health plans; interpersonal skills to present recommendations that improve patient services. OR Must have successfully completed 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement. The education portion must include courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Education must have been obtained in an accredited college, or university. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR Must have a combination of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond a bachelor's degree.) and specialized experience as described above to meet total experience requirements. The education portion must include graduate courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do to the work of this position. For GS-09: Must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal Service that equips me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience may includes: reviewing supporting material to determine compliance with regulations and policy requirements; assists in planning and implementing program(s) within a medical center setting; using creativity to engage employees and community partners in a newly developed program; developing training materials for staff educational needs; and experience using a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness. OR Must have successfully completed two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in a related field of the position to be filled. Education at the graduate level must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. OR Must possess an equivalent combination of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond the first year) and specialized experience as described above, to meet the total experience requirements. The education portion must include graduate courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do to the work of this position.
