THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR, Position Description Number D1207000 and is part of the PA Combined Support Maintenance Shop East, National Guard. 1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement.

Duties

As a ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR, WG-2601-12, you will use a wide variety of inspection techniques to inspect standard electronic systems such as radar, radio communications receivers, and transmitters (single band, UHF and VHF), mobile subscriber equipment (MSE), missile guidance systems, laser range finders, and electronic fire control systems. In addition, may inspect heavy mobile artillery, small arms, powered support, optical, and other equipment or components of equal or lesser complexity. Conduct inspections, diagnoses nature and extent of equipment malfunction, and as required, perform required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical computers, radio sets, etc. Uses various types of test equipment such as systems tests sets, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, AN/GRM-122s, and other electronic testing devices to inspect equipment and components. Inspects equipment when received to determine repairs needed and parts required. Inspect equipment to determine repairs needed. Utilize established Maintenance Expenditure Limits (MEL) to evaluate economic feasibility of repair(s). Consider a variety of factors such as cost and availability of parts, man-hours, and impact of time constraints on the mission to assess whether repair is economical. Recommend to a higher echelon to condemn equipment when the repair cost exceeds the established MEL. Prepare lists of needed repairs, parts, and man-hours authorized. Perform in-process inspections to assure that equipment is being repaired in accordance with pertinent requirements. Perform final inspection, certifying that equipment is in satisfactory operating condition, or rejects the work and returns the equipment to the repair shop with specific reports prescribing additional repairs. Inspect the full range of equipment as described above at remote worksites in support of field organizations, field units during field exercise training periods, or before major pieces of equipment are sent for repair to a supporting maintenance facility. Serve as inspector on Command Maintenance Evaluation Teams (COMET) and/or as a member of Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Teams (MAIT). Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Bargaining Position AOC 1: NG Employees working at the location specified AOC 2: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC 3: All Service Members of the Pennsylvania National Guard (to include Temporary Technicians) AOC 4: Service Members currently serving in another branch and are willing to become members of the Pennsylvania National Guard Military Grades: Warrant Officer: WO1-CW2 Enlisted: E1-E9 Supervisor for this position is CW2 Morey GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to use and maintain electronic and electrical equipment, components, and ability to perform repairs and testing. Candidates must have knowledge of standard troubleshooting techniques in order to troubleshoot for common recurring kinds of defects. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months experience or training in installing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of electrical systems, circuits, panels and controls associated with computer controlled target system consoles and develops scenarios for operation. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to use common hand tools, precision measuring and test equipment to make repairs. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
