The primary purpose of the position is to have a point of contact representing dental department, present within dental department, who can problem solve coordinating dental care for our Veterans with VA dentists, CITC team and vendors.
Duties
MAJOR DUTIES:
Manage and coordinate any clerical and administrative operations of the Dental department that are essential in coordination of dental care in the community.
The incumbent receives requests for care in the community, triages them, initiates, and follows through a variety of advisory and technical duties, including verifying dental eligibility, receiving, and initiating dental requests/consults (without being able to release) for emergency dental care, and general and specialty community dental care.
Attends all dental meetings as well as meetings with CITC staff and any other internal VA dental and CITC meetings.
Prepares any needed electronic documents or paperwork for each dentist approving care in the community, assures that the appropriate forms are included, and assures delivery prior to and pick-up after the approval is completed.
Promotes team cohesion, participate in dental service activities to enhance positive work environment, and contributes to performance improvement activities.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of creditable specialized experience includes: Serve as primary point of contact for a division/department of a large organization; Manage a primary telephone line screening calls and forward to appropriate staff; Select and prepare electronic documents/forms according to services needed; and Collect, compile, enter and/or track data and statistical information related to a specialized profession (e.g., medical office, etc.) into various automated systems.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
