This position is located in Region I, Division of Radiological Safety & Security.
The supervisor will be Jacob Zimmerman, Deputy Director.This position is in the Bargaining Unit with the National Treasury Employees Union, Chapter 208.This position is subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure and Security Ownership Restriction reporting requirements.
Duties
The successful candidate will serve as the regional technical point of contact for implementation of the Agreement State Program. Through the Integrated Materials Performance Evaluation Program (IMPEP) and periodic reviews, assesses the adequacy and compatibility of Agreement State programs; ensures a coordinated and comprehensive Agreement State program; and, maintains effective working relationships with the Agreement States, NRC Offices, and other interested or affected groups.Duties include but are not limited to:

Qualifications
In addition to the basic education requirements, to qualify for this position you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as: Demonstrated experience in the technical aspects of programs and policies and inspection relating to programs that require work with radiological safety technology, including radiation physics and dosimetry, with particular emphasis on the use of ionizing radiation in medicine and industry. Candidates should be familiar with the NRC Agreement State Program. Candidates should also have recent experience associated with a regulatory program focused on safety. Candidates must have demonstrated the ability to present technical information orally and in writing. Education
Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
