The Medical Support Assistant (OA) positions are located at the Pawnee Indian Health Center, Pawnee, OK. Incumbents will provide clerical support and technical assistance to the RN Nurse Case Managers on matters involving Purchase Referred Care (PRC) including medical, surgical and hospital services to all eligible beneficiaries in lieu of IHS facilities. Incumbents will report to the Chief Nurse Executive.
Duties
Promote quality patient care and organizational functions to expedite the referral process.
Answer and return confidential patient telephone calls in a timely manner.
Maintain high quality customer service within various electronic communications such as telephone, voice mail and e-mail.
Utilize computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Internet information acquisition, Electronic Health Record (EHR) to access and document pertinent patient information.
Perform clerical duties such as typing, filing, operating computers and computerized systems, Completes requisitions for office supplies, equipment.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Typing Proficiency: The typing proficiency requires applicants to type 40 words per minute based on a five-minute sample with three or fewer
errors.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of general experience. General experience is defined as: progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
OR Two (2) years of successfully completed education above the high school. Successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One (1) year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
OR A combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-04.
GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector. Examples include using medical, technical, or specialized terms when communicating with patients and professional staff to explain regulations and procedures; using automated systems to update patient records; and coordinating services associated with care management and patient referrals.
OR Four (4) years of education above the high school level.
OR A combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for GS-05 grade level.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
