The Durham VA Health System, has one (1) Full-time vacancy for a Registered Nurse (Nurse Manager). The RN will be fully qualified and certified to function in a clinical role and in accordance with the guidelines and policies of the Durham Veterans Affairs Health Care System.
Duties
The Director of Community-Based PSR Programs will manage the administrative and clinical aspects of a major specialty treatment program. They have responsibility for coordinating interdisciplinary staffing, work assignments, budget, treatment services provided, and admission criteria of the program. The incumbent is responsible for various fund control points assigned to the program within the assigned areas. The incumbent manages and controls the use of data related to these programs regarding day-to-day functioning and program evaluation. In conjunction with the Division Chief of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Services, the incumbent plans, organizes and directs administrative, operational, patient and personnel activities for the service. They supervise employees assigned to the program.
As the supervisor, the incumbent assists in planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures; developing individual or group goals and objectives as well as monitoring, operating, evaluating, coordinating and overseeing the staff of the assigned program. The incumbent will assure the staff whom they supervise are aware of, adhere to all current directives of VHA, and meet current Joint Commission standards, CARF, state licensure standards, and VA-OIG expectations. The incumbent will conduct ongoing intensive reviews and appraisals to ensure the accomplishment of objectives and adherence to standards set by governing bodies.
The Director of Community-Based Psychosocial Rehabilitation independently provides clinical assessment, treatment, psychiatric rehabilitation, and case management mental health services to Veterans and their family members in the Durham VAHCS ICMHR (MHICM and E-RANGE) Program as well as program coordination for ICMHR & CWT (Compensated Work Therapy).
They assist in the planning, development, and delivery of case management, referral, education, psychiatric rehabilitation and individual, family and group psychotherapy to Veterans receiving services.
The primary objective of these services is to meet the mental health needs of Veterans with serious mental illnesses.
Services are provided in a community setting in the context of an interdisciplinary team.
The incumbent will liaise with other interdisciplinary teams within the VA, such as PRRC, GMH and Specialty BHIP, and PARC, as well as community providers, to provide continuity of care.

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
English Language Proficiency. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
