You will serve as a MATERIAL HANDLER in the LOGISTICS DIVISION, S-4 INSTALLATIONS AND LOGISTICS of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR.

Duties

You will perform the full range of warehouse functions in either a major segment of a large warehouse or as the principle material handler in a large warehouse You are with responsible to receive, locate, store, ship, and re-warehouse materials, commodities, or equipment in compliance with established procedures and operating equipment. You will load/unload, develop space utilization plans, and implement the movement of material from dock to bin or from storage to shipping. You are responsible for a segment of the warehouse stock such as hazardous materials, high value items, an equipment or commodity group, or surplus materials You will ensure appropriate adherence to established documentation, safety, material movement, and preservation procedures and requirements. You will lay out storage space and establish item and material locations; to prepare inventory and production reports; to screen and identify shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies; and to direct shipments to shipping or storage areas. You will operate the larger materiel moving equipment such as pallet jack, 6K, 18K, and 25K forklifts inside and outside the warehouse. You will receive, consolidate, manifest and dispatch supply requisitions to the end user in accordance with established procedures and operating requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must obtain and maintain a forklift operator's certification.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: loading and unloading shipments from trucks and other material conveyances using forklifts.
