This position is part of the Publication Information and Sales, Government Publishing Office in Washington , District of Columbia. The incumbent of this position serves as a Customer Service Assistant and performs a full range of duties and perform a variety of financial administrative tasks, including managing and updating records, processing invoices, and tracking transactions.

Duties

Plans, coordinates, and is engaged in activities concerning verification of individual agency cash publication, orders, and cash processing functions related to receipt of customer remittance. Tracks, monitors, audits, performs account reconciliations, processes cash orders, verifies deposit orders updates databases. Creates or maintains databases, spreadsheets, reports, and statements as needed. Researches new procedures or processes that will improve the overall operation of the department. Provides customer service by answering questions and preparing responses to customers when applicable.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is Required.
  • Selectee must successfully pass Pre-employment requirements.
  • Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period

Qualifications

To qualify for the Customer Service Assistant, PG -0301-7, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-05 or higher grade level in the Federal Service that includes: Examples of specialized experience include: 1. Performing account maintenance, data entry, and account corrections; 2. Communicating information to a wide variety of audiences. -OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: A. One year of graduate-level education. OR B. Superior Academic Achievement as demonstrated by a bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university with one of the following. NOTE It is your responsibility to ensure your application clearly states how you meet one of the provisions below: a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher based on a 4.0 scale for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last 2 full years of undergraduate study; a GPA of 3.5 or higher based on a 4.0; class standing of upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision of the college; membership in a national Scholastic Honor Society certified by the Association of College Honor Societies, excluding freshman honor societies. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of experience and graduate-level education is qualifying, as described above. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement(10/25/2023) to be considered.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may be used for this grade level.

If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
