About the Position: Serves as a senior estimator for the District, with responsibility for personally performing the most complex estimates for civil works, Hazardous and Toxic Radiological Waste (HTRW), and Support for Others (SFO) projects, including both in-house value engineering (VE) estimates and VE modification proposals for ongoing contracts.
Duties
Develops unit prices for use in fair and reasonable contract estimates for all projects in the District.
Acts as advisor or consultant to higher graded engineers on construction, indexes, designs and negotiations.
Serves as a construction cost estimating specialist on all cost engineering aspects.
Prepares estimates and designs layouts of various types of structures and projects under consideration in the preliminary or survey report stage of development.

Specialized Experience GS-12:
I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service that includes: Develops unit prices for use in fair and reasonable contract estimates for all projects; reviewing cost estimates on all pre-design/design documents on all projects; interpret regulations and guidance, and deal effectively with contractors, Federal and State agencies, and local interests;apply skill and experienced judgment in accomplishment of assigned projects within the framework of established program and general technical guidelines.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
