Duties
Reviews, examines, and resolves problems of substantial difficulty relating to discrepant MMPA's and MMPA's that have been
dropped or partially dropped due to programming deficiencies.
Receives individual problem cases which other military pay areas cannot process utilizing normal methods due to lack of access to unique transactions or computer program problems.
Works with systems analysts, programmers, and control analysts in examining and interpreting problems encountered in the
system.
Is responsible for and may also personally accomplish research and discussions leading to documentation facts, assumptions, alternatives, conclusions and recommendations to systems accountants and policy personnel concerning the system's behavior.
Assists in special projects dealing with groups of MMPA records, which require extraordinary corrective action.
Examination of out of balance data requires extensive research of numerous prior monthly and daily transaction records.
Acts as technical advisor to other DMP personnel on preparation of DFAS IN unique transactions either by formal or informal training sessions.
Updates pay accounts of members based on court martial, Article 15 non judicial punishment, and other legal orders and decisions.
Processes confined, desertion, absent without leave (AWOL) military and civilian confinement, parole, and appellate leave cases.

- Time after Competitive Appointment: Candidates must have served 3 months after latest competitive appointment in the Federal service.

Qualifications
GS-06: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-05) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: experience using automated pay systems to process pay actions researching and making necessary corrections to resolve problem pay actions. Experience processing a wide variety of pay actions which require carrying out different and unrelated steps and procedures to resolve pay problems of different specialties.
GS-07: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-06) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: possessing thorough knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the military pay system, and reviewing and processing final actions to resolve various complicated military pay problems using a variety of techniques and procedures.
?Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. To be considered for the GS-6, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-5 or higher in the Federal service. To be considered for the GS-7, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-7 or higher in the Federal service.
Education
GS-06: Six months of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement when it is
directly related to the position being filled.
If you are using education to substitute for the qualifying experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be used to substitute for the specialized experience requirement. To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions that are recognized by the
U.S. Department of Education.
GS-07 (1-grade interval) Substitution of Education for Experience: One full year of graduate level education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
