This position is located at the Aleda Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan. The WG-2 Housekeeping Aide's assignment is within the Housekeeping Section of Nutrition and Environmental Services. The Incumbent works throughout the Medical Center performing various tasks assigned, such as bed washing, waste removal, detail work, soiled linen pickup and removal, vacuuming, floor cleaning, light and heavy furniture moves and arrangement, requesting and storing supplies and equipment, etc.

Duties

The duties of the WG-2 Housekeeping Aide include the following: dusting; wet and dry mopping; wet and dry cleaning; bed cleaning; detail cleaning; cleaning of light fixtures, vents, and sprinkler heads; collection and transportation of waste and soiled linen; polishing; cleaning of lavatories, commodes and urinals; replenishing paper goods and soap. When beds are vacated, the incumbent must clean the bed units; to include: wall washing, movement of furniture, changing of cubicle curtains and linen, as well as isolation room cleaning techniques. Work Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, 2:30pm to 11:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Housekeeping Aid - Direct Hire Authority/PD01623A Physical Requirements: The incumbent's duties require moderate to heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs.; continuous standing, bending, and stooping; walking; crawling; pulling overhead; kneeling; use of ladders; climbing of stairs; straight pushing and pulling; reaching above shoulder; and use of fingers. The incumbent must have sufficient visual ability to see basic colors, dust, dirt, and cobwebs.
