This position is located at Office of the Inspector General for Tax Admin,Inspector General. As an Auditor (Performance), you will be conducting complex managerial and financial audits and special assignments to assess program efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with program laws, regulations and other provisions.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As an Auditor (Performance), you will:
Articulate audit outcomes for findings and recommendations that result in cost savings, program improvements, or revenue enhancement.
Use advanced computer audit techniques to retrieve, analyze, and test data during audits or for completion of project(s).
Manage audit resources on audits or projects, e.g., assures that audits or projects are within staff day allocations, time frames and budget and discusses status with Audit Manager or Senior Auditor.
Conduct effective meetings and conferences with auditees identifying innovative methods of presentation for the audience, e.g. multi-media. or other forms of technology.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-7, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service or equivalent qualifying educational accomplishment. Examples of specialized experience for this position could include:
- Experience working for a tax administration organization that provided the applicant with experience using tax administration programs or processes. OR
- Experience applying accounting and auditing principles, concepts and techniques to gather and analyze facts/data; And
- Experience organizing results of analysis to meet professional standards.
OR
Education: 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class); grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society.
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
Education
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in auditing or a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.
OR
Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.
