This position is located in Lake Mead National Recreation Area, in the Natural and Cultural Resources Division. Open to the first 101 applicants or until 10/23/2023 whichever comes first. Duties

MAJOR DUTIES: Manage museum collections, archives, and libraries within a park. Manage museum project contracts, loans, and agreements. Develops guidelines to deal with the more complex or unusual problems, or with novel, undeveloped or controversial aspects of museum collections and their management. Develops strategic plans, work plans and schedules, project statements, deaccession plans, scopes of work, cost estimates and proposals to justify funding requests and accomplish goals. Provide technical support for museum program and mentors volunteers and technician staff members.

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/23/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service). Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal civilian employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. To qualify for this position, you must possess the Basic Requirements for the series AND the Minimum Qualifications for the GS-11 grade level. BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR MUSEUM CURATOR GS-1015 SERIES: You must possess at least one of the three requirements below to qualify for this series: Degree: full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in museum work or in an applicable subject-matter field. (You must provide transcripts in your application). -OR- Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major, as shown in #1 above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The quality of the combination demonstrates that I possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the work of the position and is comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a full four-year course of study with a major as described above. (You must provide transcripts in your application). -OR- Experience: at least four years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study as shown in #1 above. -AND- MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR GS-11 GRADE: You must possess at least one of the three requirements below to qualify for this grade: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience MUST include: (1) Museum program management and project management of a more complex nature, working independently; (2) Experience in long-term planning and management of museum collections at a park, regional repository, or similar museum facility; and (3) Museum database management including Interior Collection Management System (ICMS)/Re: Discovery or similar programs such as, (PastPerfect, Argus, etc.). You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a directly related field of study that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. You must submit a copy of your transcripts as proof of any claimed education. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. CTAP/ICTAP Statement: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies.
