About the Position: This position is located at the U. S. Military Police School, Dir of Training and Education Advanced Law Enforcement Training Div on Fort Leonard Wood. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, MO. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2 hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is a little more than an hour's drive to the West of Fort Leonard Wood.
Duties
Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjust short term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
Interview candidates for positions in the unit; recommends appointment, promotion or reassignment to such positions.
Implement ways to eliminate or reduce significant bottlenecks and barriers to production, promote team building, or improve business practices.
Develop training materials through the analysis of educational or instructional problems or questions.
Develop training materials, and incorporate full range of training strategies (e.g., discussion, simulation-based, tutorial, drill and interactive learning scenarios) with full range of instructional training aids, computer systems, and software.
Train with high risk training tasks such as explosive breaching, exothermic breaching, ballistic breaching, fast rope descending, vehicle ramming, and a variety of live fire exercises.
Requirements
- A Secret Clearance is required for this position.
- This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program.
- Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the drug abuse testing program or a memorandum of understanding.
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
- Employee must maintain proficiency with assigned weapons.
- A pre and/ or annual physical may be required.
- Must be capable of operating a motor vehicle and maintaining a state's driver's license.
- The employee may be placed in on-call status and required to work overtime, as needed.
- This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station; and will be required to travel on military or commercial aircraft.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes: teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the Anti-terrorism, Special Reaction Team, Force Protection, Close Quarters Combat, Law Enforcement Tactical Response and/or Physical Security field; supervising or administering a training program; developing or reviewing training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results; and working in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
