Duties
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Counter Insider Threat Office (SII) has an opening for a Lead National Security Psychologist who has the proven ability to operate both independently and collaboratively in support of psychological consultation, research and development, training, and interagency liaison activities. The selectee will work with the Behavioral Science Division (SIIB) Chief and Operations Officer to ensure that SIIB anticipates agency needs, is responsive to agency requirements, and provides excellent services that are in accordance with the laws, policies, and authorities that govern SIIB activities. The selectee will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop an approach to executing division responsibilities and resolving problems that reflect the highest standards of professional practice. The selectee will work with the SIIB Division Chief to set priorities, lead an execute SIIB tasks according to those priorities, and serve as Acting Division Chief when required.Duties:1. Provide US Government (USG) oversight to all contracted SIIB services and participate in psychological consultation, research and development, training, and interagency liaison activities that support the SII mission to detect, deter, and mitigate potential threats to NGA personnel, facilities, systems, and data.2. Collaborate with division team members to develop and refine data-driven, effective workflow methods and procedures, including assisting in the calculation of metrics for program evaluation (e.g., analyze data from customer satisfactory surveys to ensure timeliness and quality of all division services and products).3. Apply behavioral science through consultation and assessment activities; examples include, but are not limited to: -- Conducting psychological assessments in support of personnel security, selection for special assignments, and other security-related functions -- Participating in threat assessment activities and consults to facilitate threat deterrence, detection, and mitigation strategies.4. Manage consultation activities across the division to ensure proper mission focus, quality assurance, and coordination with stakeholders.5. Facilitate professional execution of division functions and ensure division activities are in proper compliance with relevant laws and policies; coordinate as appropriate with General Counsel, the Privacy Office, and other associated stakeholders.6. Educate the workforce on vital behavioral science topics by teaching and leading the development of training activities aligned with the SIIB mission and in response to organizational and agency demands.7. Support innovation efforts by leading data collection, data cleaning, data input, and statistical analysis for critical research and development activities that are foundational to the ongoing development of SII's threat deterrence, detection, and mitigation strategies.8. Advance the science related to threat detection, threat assessment, threat mitigation, and counterintelligence through interagency liaison activities; facilitate sharing of research findings, lessons learned, and best practices.Additional Application Requirement: You may be asked to complete one or more assessments in addition to the application you submit on this website as part of your application to NGA. Qualifications
MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Experience in one or more of the following positions: Operational Psychologist, National Security Psychologist, Forensic Psychologist.2. Demonstrated effectiveness providing training to diverse audiences.3. Experience coordinating and collaborating with other agencies, academic institutions, or private-sector entities for the exchange of best practices or scientific advancement.4. Demonstrated effectiveness communicating/briefing to senior executives and leaders at the strategic level.EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). -AND- LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (e.g., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. Experience using statistical software (e.g., SPSS) to measure the relationship between various types of data and behavioral outcomes.2. Experience conducting threat assessments and providing consultation to leaders and decision-makers that includes actionable recommendations.3. Experience leading professional staff and making critical decisions that impact mission, readiness, and the safety and security of the workforce.4. Experience providing psychological consultation to security and/or intelligence activities 5. National Board Certification (e.g., ABPP) in Clinical Psychology, Police and Public Safety Psychology, Consulting Psychology, or other related sub-specialty.
