Duties

You will assist with the oversight and control of the operation/maintenance of accounting, financial management, and financial feeder systems supporting accounting, reporting, and management information for the Department of the Navy (DON). You will complete requirements assigned during each phase of an approved Individual Development Plan (IDP). You will formulate budget/estimates to support plans programs and activities. You will present and defend budget estimates before authorities. You will review and evaluate budget requests.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Financial Management Level 1 certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-09 position: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Maintaining accounting records and preparing financial reports for review; 2) Identifying problem transactions to ensure proper posting to appropriate balance sheet and income statement accounts; and 3) Identifying budget or funds management problems and assisting others in offering alternative solutions. The recent graduate program is for those who have graduated, within the past 24 months from a qualifying educational institution with a minimum 2.95 GPA

GS-09 position :
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to this position being filled
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
