You will serve as a INSULATOR in the Pipe Shop (Code 960) Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will lay out work from written or verbal instructions, procedures, blueprints, or sketches. You will insulate surfaces of pipe, ducts, valves, fittings, flanges, and boilers. You will prepare removable pads or replaceable sections of insulation by making paper patterns as necessary.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time

Qualifications

Completion of a four year apprenticeship in the trade, OR have had fours years of practical experience in the trade sufficient in content and progressive acquirement of trade skills and knowledge to be the substantial equivalent of a completed apprenticeship. Utilizing various sizes of pre-formed insulation materials. Distinguishing between insulation to use on various systems and equipment. Working with insulation schedules on various classes of naval vessels both surface craft and submarines.
