This National Guard position is for a Paralegal Specialist (Title 5), Position Description Number T5162000 and is part of the HRO located in Draper, with the Utah National Guard. Priority will be given to all current, onboard employees of the UTNG. The selecting supervisor for this vacancy is Mr. Douglas Crabtree.

Duties

This position is located in the Human Resources Office (HRO). The primary purpose of the position is to provide technical, procedural, and evaluative assistance in the area of employee benefits, performance management, and/or compensation for both Army and Air National Guard organizations. Performs work in one or more of the above human resources specialties. Accomplishes work through the use of an automated personnel system. BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; Ability to clearly enunciate English without impediment of speech that would interfere or prohibit efficient communication; Ability to write English in reports and presentation formats; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively; Skilled in presenting formal training presentations and briefings; Ability to assess body language and perceive emotional and/or distress levels; and, Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting program material. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-09: Have at least one year experience at GS-0950-07/GS-0950-09?*** Must submit SF-50 to support series claim * OR have at least 24 months performing paralegal or legal work which demonstrates a basic knowledge of legal research and ability to interpret legal decisions obtained in either the public or private sector. Qualifying experience include performing the following types of duties: examining and processing a variety of legal documents; conducting research, analysis and evaluation of data in response to complex or sensitive requests; drafting briefs, pleadings, litigation recommendations, or other legal documents and correspondence; using a variety of electronic or manual filing systems to acquire and store information; documenting findings and preparing recommendations; searching and reviewing legal references, case files, and other sources for information and data required by attorneys or court personnel. Knowledge of the various titles of Federal law and state/territory codes governing and significant current national and local developments impacting National Guard programs and missions. Knowledge of the various titles of Federal law and state/territory codes governing and significant current national and local developments impacting National Guard programs and missions. Knowledge of document control and security measures to insure no untimely or inappropriate release of investigative information occur jeopardizing pending prosecution and/or defense actions or the physical well being of participants, their counsel, witnesses, etc. Knowledge of legal documents and criminal, civil or military justice procedures sufficient to ensure timely and accurate initiation of, or response to legal documents and submissions and routing. Knowledge of, and skill to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in order to provide assistance to customers in the preparation of legal documents, or to assist attorneys by providing written summaries of analyses to support specific legal issues.
