This is a formal AF intern position in the PAQ program and; as such, it is centrally funded by HQ AFPC/DPCZA and administered by the Special Investigations Civilian Career Program (SICCP). The purpose of this position is to receive formal and on-the-job training in criminal investigations and to complete developmental assignments & training outlined in the SICCP PAQ Training You will ONLY be notified directly IF selected. Duties

The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a criminal investigator in a developmental capacity, performing assignments designed to further develop applicable criminal investigative analytical and evaluative skills and techniques. Perform developmental criminal investigative assignments. Draft or prepare criminal investigative reports upon completion of each assignment for review by senior investigator. Assist in coordinating criminal investigative activity with other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Periodically assist in briefing investigative personnel, attorneys, and other interested parties on criminal investigative matters.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, - Administrative and Management Positions. GL-07:To qualify at the GL-07 grade level, you must have one year experience equivalent to the GL-5 grade level performing the following: Basic knowledge of the appropriate provisions of the U.S. Statutes; UCMJ; and DoD, AF, and AFOSI instructions, directives, and other implementing policies governing the conduct of criminal investigative activities. Working knowledge of area of work, location of records, rulings applicable to cases investigated, and investigative techniques and methods. Skilled in judicious use of firearms. OR Education: 1 full year of graduate level education or bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement or a combination of 1 year equivalent to at least a GL-05. The CSA PAQ program requires a degree with overall GPA standing of 2.95. All qualifications must be met prior to May 2024. This must be from an accredited college or university: Meet the qualification standards of the position Must be at least 16 years of age A U.S. citizen or a national (resident of American Samoa or Swains Island) Must sign a mobility agreement KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of the fundamental principles, concepts, methodologies, laws, regulations, guidelines, precedents, requirements of various legal jurisdictions, and practices of criminal investigations. 2. Knowledge of the rules of criminal procedures, laws, and precedent court decisions concerning the admissibility of evidence, constitutional rights, search and seizure, and related issues. 3. Knowledge of sources of information and how to develop them and the latest technological advances used by criminals and investigators. 4. Skill in communicating orally and in writing. 5. Ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions. 6. Ability to plan and organize work, consult effectively with others, and work as a member of a team. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Total salary varies depending on location of position. New Hires may be eligible for student loan repayments of up to $30,000.00. Current federal employees may be eligible for pay retention. Medical, Health and Fitness Requirements: Must be physically fit in order to perform strenuous and physically demanding duties May be required to take a series of vaccinations and immunizations Moderate to arduous physical exertion involving standing, walking, running The use of firearms Exposure to inclement weather or other environmental hazards Manual dexterity Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily Corrected visual acuity:20/20 or better with or without correction in the better eye or 20/30 or better with or without correction in the worse eye; near visual acuity: 20/30 or better, binocular conditions with our without correction @ 40 cm (16 inches); uncorrected visual acuity: 20/200 or better, binocular conditions without correction; visual field: full visual field in each eye; color vision: possess adequate color vision to correctly identify basic colors as demonstrated by passing the Farnsworth D-15 Test with less than two major errors; binocular depth perception: stereo acuity of 70 seconds of arc or better; night vision: normal dark adaptation and night vision Adequate hearing is required in order to perform duties safely and satisfactorily; hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels Must possess emotional and mental stability Any physical or mental condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to themselves or others is disqualifying Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical examination (including vision, hearing, cardiovascular and mobility of extremities) by an authorized Government physician and be determined physically able to perform duties without being a hazard to themselves or others LAW ENFORCEMENT AVAILABILITY PAY (LEAP): LEAP is approved for this position to compensate employees for unscheduled duty in excess of a 40-hour workweek LAW ENFORCEMENT RETIREMENT: This position is a primary law enforcement officer (LEO) position. IAW DoDI 1400.25 Volume 336, "The maximum entry age (MEA) for covered primary law enforcement officer positions is 37. Persons not appointed by the last day of the month in which they become age 37 shall not be originally appointed or assigned to these positions." The Agency may choose to waive MEA requirements based on compelling hardship, e.g., a shortage of qualified candidates; or may choose to waive MEA requirements for otherwise qualified applicants with veterans' preference.
