About the Position:
This position is located at William Beaumont Army Medical Center located in El Paso, Texas.
Duties
Observe computer, and reports abnormalities to nurse caring for patient.
Label and distribute trend reports for each patient.
Identify life threatening arrythmias and takes immediate action.
Review arrhythmia sheet and parameters every shift and retrieves trends after review.
Identify and analyze factors related to equipment operation and patient responses.
Check recordings and highlight any abnormal tracing caused by external action or conditions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- This position may require employee to wear a uniform and/or protective clothing such as, mask and/or gloves.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- This position may include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays).
- This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing patient care in a Medical/Telemetry Unit; maintaining telemetry equipment; and interpreting cardiac or EKG readings of patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four full 4-years of education leading to a bachelor's degree in a major field of study appropriate to the specialization of the position (Telemetry), or that included at least 24 semester hours in courses such as biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, medical technology or physics. Of the 24 semester hours, at least 12 must have been in a field directly related to the specialization of the position (Telemetry).

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
