Serves as a lead planner responsible for various airport and aviation planning activities for the Office of Airports (ARP) Northwest Mountain Region.

Duties

Incumbent is recognized as a subject matter expert in specialized area and provides leadership for highly complex and challenging activities under the minimal direction of a manager or executive. Analyzes and interprets criteria related to all aspects of airport and aviation planning.

Qualifications

In addition to the basic requirement listed below in the EDUCATION section, to qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experience is experience developing or approving airport layout plans; experience developing or reviewing planning consultant contracts and scopes of work, experience providing advisory and technical guidance to the public on airport planning, airspace, programming, airport design standards, contract administration, and in general, on all aspects of airport project implementation; and experience in providing technical guidance to staff and representing management at technical meetings.Applicants should include examples of their specialized experience in their work history.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the vacancy announcement.As a part of the Federal-Wide Hiring Reform Initiative (streamlining the hiring process), the FAA is committed to eliminating the use of the Knowledge, Skills and Ability (KSA) narratives from the application in the hiring process for all announcements. Foreign education must be evaluated by a private professional organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education credentials or an accredited U.S. educational institution in terms of equivalence to a degree acquired at an American college or university. A copy of the evaluation results must be included, otherwise your foreign education will not be considered.

To qualify for this position you must have a degree in community planning; or related field such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration that included at least 12 semester hours in the planning process, socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, urban and regional economic analysis, and development finance or engineering.

NOTE: Applicants with degrees in related fields, such as those listed above, who do not have the 12 semester hours of specified course work must have had at least 1 year of work experience in community planning or engineering acquired under the supervision and guidance of a community planner or professional engineer.

OR

Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in one of the above disciplines, or a combination of related courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the above disciplines of which at least 12 semester hours were in the planning process, and socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
