The incumbent serves as the primary Program Support Assistant to the Supervisory Health Systems Specialist and Admin Offices at the Jacksonville VA Outpatient Clinic. The incumbent has technical and administrative responsibility for the daily operations of their office(s). The position is responsible for the day-to-day administrative operations. This clinic offers a variety of disciplines to include Primary Care, Audiology, Cardiology, Dental, Prosthetics, Optometry, and other departments.
Duties

Major Duties include but are not limited to:
Greets and manages a wide variety of individuals and issues. Routine daily inquiries either come verbally (via telephone), in person, or in writing from patients, staff, and outside visitors including but not limited to Veterans Service Offices, Congressional and Senatorial offices, DOD, and other medical centers, volunteer applicants, and families of Veteran patients.
Reviews patient records to confirm appointment details.
Coordinates with appointing service as required to ensure appointment and transportation are both available on date requested.
Sets up and maintains files on clinic operations, including but not limited to operations for voluntary services, work study program, and patient advocacy.
Coordinates volunteer recruitment activities, arranges interviews and pre-employment requirement
Maintains required records for all government owned vehicles.
Serves as primary timekeeper for volunteer and work study students. Serves as part of JOPC administration employee timekeeping team.
Maintains accurate files on all volunteers and work studies.
Assists managers, staff, volunteers, and work-study students with the preparation of correspondence.
Work Schedule: 7:30am- 4:00pm or 8:30am- 5:00pm, Monday - Friday

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. There may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items like paper or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Greets and manages a wide variety of individuals and issues; Coordinates activities, arranges interviews and pre-employment requirements; Reviews patient records to confirm appointment details; Coordinates with appointing service as required to ensure appointment and transportation are both available on date requested; and Serves as primary timekeeper.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
