This position is located at the Parker Indian Health Center, Parker, AZ. The incumbent performs primary functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care and treatment of all patients with medical, surgical trauma, obstetrics, with acute or emergent conditions to all age groups across the life span.
Duties
Assess patient care needs on the unit and adjusts priorities accordingly.
Participates in problem solving by making improvements in the delivery of patient care.
Develops a plan to provide direct patient care applicable to emergent/urgent patient needs.
Initiates treatment, medications, emergency and resuscitative measures based on appropriate utilization or standing orders and unit protocols/processes.
Evaluates outcomes, reassesses, and revises the treatment plan as necessary.

Qualifications

Individual Occupational Requirements
NOTE: Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied.
Education:
A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduate of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure:
For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition to the Individual Occupational Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Managing the care of patients who present to the Emergency Department with a wide variety of conditions ranging from non-urgent to life-threatening or emergent. Experience in assessing the immediate needs of patients, prioritizing care needs, working in a collaborative interdisciplinary team to address identified care needs of critically ill patients. Experience coordinating and organizing the plan of care from Emergency Department admission through discharge, Experience performing charge nurse and/or team lead responsibilities.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
