THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a WG-2604-11 ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1205000 in SPMD 5126 and is part of the MO Field Maintenance Shop 6. APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This is an Indefinite Excepted Service position. This is a bargaining position. SEE NOTES UNDER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT BELOW.

Duties

Performs functional tests, analyzes performance and malfunctions the electronic, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic assemblies, modules, and interconnecting cables of a variety of combat and tactical equipment. Removes, installs, tests, maintains, modifies, performs alignments and troubleshoots the electronic, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic assemblies, modules, and interconnecting cables of a variety of combat and tactical equipment. Repairs or replaces chassis mounted components on Unit Under Test (UUT). Performs Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) operations for fault isolation on LLM electronic modules, circuit cards, and assemblies to component level. Replaces faulty components on UUT printed circuit boards and power distribution systems. Utilizes oscilloscopes, signal generators, digital multi-meters, and other test equipment to locate, diagnose, and repair malfunctions. Troubleshoots and repairs launch pod/container (LP/C), trainer rocket simulator modules, Missiles/Launchers Pod Assembly (M/LPA), trainer missile simulator modules, and various like items. Troubleshoots carrier electrical and power distributions systems as an integrated subsystem of the weapon system or equipment being repaired. Isolates faulty assemblies, cables, wiring harnesses and modules to component level for repair or replacement. Performs field and limited sustainment maintenance to include installation, routine maintenance, repair, and overhaul of fixed and mobile operational communication and electronics systems. Repairs, aligns, and adjusts missile guidance control systems, infrared night vision sights, optical sights, and traversing units. Removes and replaces defective electrical, electronic, and mechanical components. Conducts inspections, diagnoses nature and extent of equipment malfunction. Determines whether equipment may be economically repaired or declared unserviceable. Repairs or salvages defective components. Isolates and diagnoses cause of circuit/component malfunction using signal string lists, schematics, standard, special, and electronic Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) or repair equipment. Uses various types of test equipment to include systems test sets and stands such as frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, ohmmeters, voltmeters, resistance bridges, and signal generators to localize trouble by component unit. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Creditable Service for Annual Leave accrual may be granted to new employees if he/she possesses superior qualifications essential to the position; and which were acquired through performance in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position.
  • The duties performed in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position must directly relate to the position to which appointed and such qualifications are necessary to achieve an important agency mission or performance goal to be eligible.
  • Employment can be terminated with a 30 day notice.
  • In the event a permanent (Tenure 1 or 2) employee is selected, and is willing to accept the indefinite appointment, that employee will relinquish permanent status.

Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Selected candidate will be required to be in a compatible military assignment prior to effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be MOS qualified within 12 months from date of appointment. Maximum Military Grade - CW3 (W-3) Enlisted - CMF 25 or 94; MOS 13D, 13M, 13P, 13R, 14E, 14T, 14Z, 15E, 17E, 35T, 91A, 91F, 91G, 91H, 91M, 91P, 91S, 91X or 91Z Warrant Officer - Branch 25, 29, 91, 94,14 Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education or training which demonstrates your knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematic. WG-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 18 months of specialized experience that demonstrates your ability to troubleshoot, install, repair, and maintain complex electronic systems where circuit theory must be used to understand the operation of individual circuits; skill in developing new test and repair procedures for which none exists, and when possible, improve existing procedures. The specialized experience must also demonstrate an understanding of the interaction of a number of complex, interrelated circuits to determine the cause of the malfunction and the interaction of various factors. Experience that demonstrates skill in interpreting complex drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete systems to recognize the function and interconnections of the various assemblies. Skill in using a wide variety of electronic test equipment such as systems test sets, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, ohmmeters, voltmeters, resistance bridges, and signal generators.
