Duties
Produce spatial data products and services for all surveying engineering related organizations within the Norfolk District.
Apply standard surveying engineering practices to new situations and solve novel or obscure problems.
Work closely with engineers, scientists, and other professionals to ensure delivery of quality surveying engineering spatial data products and services.
Provide professional, technical, and administrative support for the execution of activities associated with the real time acquisition of hydrographic, topographic, and geodetic survey data.
Serve as a Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) or assist the COR for Architect-Engineer (A/E) contracts requiring surveying task orders and other procurements.
Conduct Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) flight planning, pre-flight preparation, safety inspection, establishing ground control, UAS operation, and system monitoring during missions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain Drone Pilot License.
- All Army personnel will comply with safety regulations, occupational safety and health standards, and other safety directives and orders.
- Incumbent of this position must be enrolled in the Hearing Conservation Program and must undergo pre-employment, annual, and pre-termination audiograms.
- Work assignments involve working outside, standing, climbing, and walking through rugged terrain.

GS-10: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Utilizing hydrographic, topographic, geodetic, and UAS survey operations, methods, and techniques to process and analyze survey data; Creating scopes of work and technical reports, developing detailed resource and cost estimates, and presenting results verbally to the project delivery team; Assisting with data discrepancy resolution and ensuring compliance with regulations and procedures.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
GS-11: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Utilizing hydrographic, topographic, geodetic, and UAS survey operations, methods, and techniques to process and analyze survey data; Creating scopes of work and technical reports, developing detailed resource and cost estimates, and presenting results verbally to the project delivery team; Developing contractual documents for the award of Architect-Engineer contracts involved with the acquisition of survey data.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
