This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Northwest Region, Regional Office, Deputy Superintendent-Trust Services, Land Title and Records, in Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington.

Duties
Receives, examines and reviews all original legal documents such as probates, patents, deeds, mortgages, leases and rights of way.
Identifies omissions or errors and notifies originator.
Maintains automated system for all legal documents received for recording by scanning and entering data for the recorded documents.
Conducts research in identification by utilizing the automated system.
Prepares files for transmittal to Office of Hearing and Appeals.
Coordinates appeal cases with agency.
Composes correspondence relating to defective documents or appeals.
Responds to requests related to probate data.

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, GS-0986).
GS-7: I have at least one year of full-time specialized experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-6 grade level in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). Specialized experience includes reviewing legal documents for recording and maintains land title maintenance system; receives, examines and reviews legal documents including probates, patents, deeds, mortgages, leases and rights of way. Maintains automated system and furnishes information related to legal documents/probates.
All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.
