The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an operational psychologist that provides a full spectrum of technical expertise, guidance, training/instruction, and direct psychological services. Provides recommendations that will impact programs/policies with millions of dollars and service-wide missions at stake.
Duties
Provides psychological and human performance interventions to bolster cognitive and noncognitive functioning under prolonged, adverse training conditions.
Develops, administers, and interprets a full spectrum of psychological assessment tools within the Military Training Instructor (MTI) assessment and selection process.
Provides evidence-based psychological interventions for MTI candidates, cadre, and staff.
Given broad, non-specific administrative direction and guidelines, serves as a psychological subject matter expert and consultant to BMT and AF leaders, mental health professionals, medical staff, commanders, group staff, instructors, and training professionals.
Represents 737 TRG with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.

- At a minimum, qualification requirements stipulated by the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for the GS-0180 occupational series must be met.
- This is a drug-testing designated position. The incumbent must pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to employment and periodically thereafter.
- May be required to work extended hours or rotating shifts to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Work may require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Work requires innovative thinking and outstanding resourcefulness.
- Possess a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from a regionally accredited university. Have completed an internship/residency in Clinical Psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association.
- Hold and maintain a current state license to practice Clinical Psychology and follow the ethical guidelines for the state in which they are licensed.
- Meet service requirements for independent practice and maintain current credentials with a sanctioned DOD medical authority.
- Successful completion of graduate-level coursework or certification in Psychological Testing and Assessment is required.
- Sport Psychology, Industrial/Organizational or Consulting Psychology through a regionally accredited university or recognized national level professional organization is highly desired.
- A professional background that includes experience with embedding in line military units, or similar is highly desired.
- Employee may be required to carry a work cell phone and will be subject to calls outside of duty hours.
- This is a Mission Essential position performing a Mission Critical Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.

Conditions of Employment Continued:
This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations. Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.
This position is emergency essential (E-E). The incumbent must meet all requirements of E-E positions and may be required, as a condition of employment, to take a series of vaccinations and annual boosters to immunize against anthrax and other diseases. During a crisis, the incumbent or designated alternate must continue to perform the E-E duties until relieved by proper authority. The same will be required to take part in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively. This meets the criteria of an E-E position and requires that the incumbent or designated alternate to be removed from any military recall status.
This is a Term position NTE 72 months; the individual selected for this position may be extended without further competition. Current Federal civilian employees may apply for this position using "Reinstatement" eligibility and if selected, a break in service of at least 4 calendar days may be required prior to appointment to this position.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Education: Satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes applying professional knowledge of psychological principles, theories, methods, or data to practical situations and problems; providing consultative services or training in psychological principles, theories, methods; conducting psychological screening, risk management oversight, and behavioral training; performing psycho-diagnosis and psychotherapy; creating psychological assessments; presenting diagnostic/treatment recommendations; and furnishing expert professional advice on the solution of problems, or on the feasibility and evaluations of projects, programs, or plans in connection with research, direct services, or training.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Professional knowledge of clinical psychology and psychological measurement as well as fundamental theories, and concepts in human performance to manage programs, policies, management objectives for accomplishing psychological assessment work.
Professional knowledge and skill in the application of various psychological interventions to manage emotional, behavioral, and social aspects of readiness and functioning of military personnel in high-risk, high-demand career fields.
Skill in computer utilization and statistical techniques for data analysis and proficiency in utilizing behavioral science software packages for data manipulation and analysis.
Skill in interviewing techniques, including the development, structure, conduct, evaluation, and assessment. Ability to conduct, administer, and interpret the full spectrum of psychological assessment tools applicable to BMT.
Ability to plan, organize, and lead study work/projects and to negotiate effectively with leadership to accept and implement recommendations; ability to analyze complex processes involving several functional areas with overlapping concerns and conflicting interests.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing to prepare detailed written reports, including briefing charts, diagrams, and other graphics to support recommendations or conclusions.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
