This position is located in the Health Information Department at Parker Indian Health Center. The incumbent provides assistance in the processing and maintaining medical records in the Electronic Health Record hybrid environment for compliance requirements. Includes these duties reviewing, analyzing, abstracting, compiling data, key-entering, maintaining and scanning patient health information in the automated records system in support of the Health Information Management Services
Duties
Provides comprehensive analysis by reviewing and validating on-line ambulatory health records, to assure the presence of all component parts of patient information elements are present to meet the requirements of accreditation agencies such as Joint Commission, CMS, IHS Regulations and Standards that governs the HIM Department policies.
Medical Records maintenance is accomplished by use of an automated record system.
Performs quality checks and communicates with the appropriate provider for document deficiencies identified via E.H.R notification or manual deficiency sheet.
Request charts from the Federal Records Center if the patient returns to the facility for services, using the on-line computer system
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-4: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of general experience in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position; OR
Education: Two (2) years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college or college or university. Transcripts required. OR
Combination of education and experience: Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.
GS-5: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skill and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include: process and maintain medical records in the form of Electronic Health Record (EHR) hybrid environment, for compliance with regulatory requirements; review, analyze, abstract, compile data, key-entering, maintain and scan patient health information in the automated records system in support of the Health Information Management Services. OR
Education: Four (4) years of education above the high school level. Successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. Transcripts required. OR
Combination of education and experience: Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
