About the Position: The incumbent serves as Supervisory Section Chief with responsibility for planning, programming, directing, reviewing, and insuring performance of the diverse environmental engineering mission projects in the Sacramento District. Duties

Responsible for the direct supervision of a staff including multidisciplinary Program and Project Managers and support staff Directs staff in developing annual program plans, reviewing initial project assignments, and preparation of the Project Management Plan. Recommends operating procedures and policies, assuring that they are in accordance with directives from higher authority. Supervises subordinate Program and Project Managers consisting of specialists in environmental engineering, civil engineering, environmental protection specialists, and other engineers/scientists. Establishes priorities and assures timely completion and acceptable quantity and quality of work products. Accepts, amends or rejects work as necessary or appropriate.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing corporate decisions, guidance, laws, regulations, and policy in the development and support of projects; developing, implementing and executing an effective quality management program for products; coordinating responses to correspondence, inquiries, or directives requiring multiple element action; analyzing/interpreting directives and correspondence to determine applicability. OR working with project and program management business processes and tools; procedural controls in the life cycle project management process; experience working with flood risk management projects, planning, designing and construction projects and budget formulation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Budget AdministrationManaging Human ResourcesProject ManagementWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
