Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the DoD in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information.

Position is located in: Information & Technology Directorate Office.

Duties
Serve as the primary Executive Secretary performing administrative and clerical duties in support of the work of a DFAS Senior Executive and other management staff.
Prepare, review, and edit a wide variety of correspondence, reports, ensuring proper format, grammatically correct, meet requirements and the executive's philosophy and views before dissemination.
Strategically manage the executive's calendar, and schedule appointments and meetings based on personal knowledge of workload and current issues without prior approval.
Prioritize, align, and deconflict meetings, as needed. Ensure the executive is prepared, and has the necessary information/materials in advance of daily meetings.
Make travel arrangements in DTS, anticipating potential changes; have contingency plans in place, if needed. Prepare the executive for travel to include preparing itineraries and other required materials.
Coordinate the executive's schedule with assistants to other agency senior executives. Manage travel schedules to ensure mission is met.
Requirements

- Typing Proficiency: Must be able to type 40 words per minute to qualify
Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as: Managing and scheduling appointments for a Senior Leader or department head; using office automation software and ability to research, interpret and apply clerical and administrative regulations; performing review of correspondence to ensure compliance with regulations, grammar, format and special policies for correspondence are followed; advising secretaries and action officers in subordinate units on such matters as the application of procedures, correspondence and reporting requirements; maintaining Senior Leader appointment calendars, maintaining files; greeting and interacting with high-level visitors to the Senior Leader; working with subordinate secretaries to schedule events or meetings with the Senior Leader.
A minimum typing proficiency of 40 WPM is required.
Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience.
Education
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience is generally not applicable above GS-05, but may be considered if it is
directly related to the position being filled.
For Entry at the GS-08 Level: Eighteen months of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement when it is
directly related to the position being filled
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be used to substitute for the specialized experience requirement.
