About the Position: This position is located at Ft. Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Recreation activities are abundant in the immediate and surrounding areas for family and fun.
Duties
Conduct undergraduate and graduate student training for assigned Army Aviation Program of Instructions (POIs) as well as cockpit training.
Develop Program of Instructions, lesson plans, advance sheets and course material for an Aviation Training Program.
Participate in courseware development and modification by using the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) process.
Monitor and evaluate progress in undergraduate and upper division undergraduate program courses in advanced technique systems.
Serve as administrator on multiple government computer applications, servers, and learning management systems to deliver student courseware
including conventional and automated assessments.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) of 5% business may be required.
- Position may require shift work and/or irregular work hours.
- Able to obtain and maintain Instructor Training Certification, Common Faculty Development per TRADOC Regulation 350-70 within six months of employment.
- Personnel who are assigned to a faculty position will recertify every five years per TRADOC Regulation 370-60.
Qualifications
This position is a TERM position. It is a time limited position and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years total. This position may be converted to a permanent, career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.
This position MAY be made permanent without further competition contingent upon verification of the incumbent's non-competitive eligibility (must be a 30% veteran, reinstatement eligible, etc., under competitive service).
This position may be filled as a Temporary Promotion or a Temporary Reassignment and may be extended for current Department of Army employees. At the end of this period, you will return to your permanent position of record, or to a different position of equivalent grade and pay.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes: 1) Teaching as a platform instructor in an adult education program, college, military installation, lesson creation and training involving all aspect of the UH 60 series 2) Assisting in the development of POI(s), lesson plans and course materials for use in a (UH 60) series 3) Developing and reviewing training/course materials, aids, devices and evaluation of training results 4) knowledge of cockpit simulators and simulations equipment, aids, or devices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. if in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: adult education.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
