This position is a Student Trainee Management Assistant position located within USDA, Rural Development Office of the Arizona State Director. The primary purpose of the position is to provide developmental assignments in a variety of administrative and clerical duties.
1 vacancy will be filled from this announcement in either Yuma or Phoenix, AZ.
This is not a remote/virtual position. The incumbent will be expected to report to the duty location listed above.
Duties
Perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties/assignments involving different processes.
Use personal computer, printers, scanners, etc. to perform office automation duties. This includes the use of software packages, i.e., excel spreadsheets, word processing, electronic mail, calendar, power point slideshows, access database, etc.
Duties may include special projects and other administrative duties that involve communication, projects, assisting with the creation of Power Point presentations, and reports related to USDA, Rural Development's programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen at the time of Non-Competitive conversion to a career conditional appointment
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt
- Must be in good academic standing as defined by the educational institution
- Complete at least 640 hrs of work experience prior to completion of degree
- Enrolled at least half-time at a qualifying educational institution
- A signed participant agreement is required for employment under Pathways
- Satisfactory Background investigation and/or fingerprint check
- Successful completion of two-year trial period

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
For the GS-03 level: Applicants must have completed 1 full academic year of post-high school study.
For the GS-04 level: Applicants must have completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
At the undergraduate level, successfully completed education that has not led to possession of a degree is credited based on its relationship to 120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours. For example, 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours is comparable to 1 year of undergraduate education.

Conversion: In addition to meeting the pathways requirements for conversion, an applicant converting to a Management and Program Analyst, GS-0343-05/07/09/11/12 is required to also meet the OPM Qualification Standards for the GS-0343 series.
