You will serve as a Security Specialist in the Naval Medical Research Command (NMRC) of NAVMEDRSCHCEN SILVER SPRING MD.

Duties

You will coordinate and submit security investigations utilizing Electronic Personnel Security Questionnaires. You will utilize Defense Information System for Security (DISS), or any other replacement systems that may be required in the future. You will provide assistance and recommendations to the Commander, Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC). You will respond to request for information concerning clearance actions.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final top secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Utilizing previous experience in security-related, particularly personnel security. Utilizing previous experience with security-related systems. Utilizing experience as program manager or assistant program manager. Working independently. . Education

Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree.

OR

Successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree.

OR

Obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled.

OR

Combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent
