This position is located in the Office of Science - Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI), Department of Energy (DOE). As a Librarian, you will be focusing on the collection of scientific and technical information (STI) with emphasis on journal articles/accepted manuscripts, research datasets, and scientific software, implementing STI policy in support of the STI program, and providing persistent identifier services to DOE Laboratories.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
A. Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree.
OR
B. A total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services.
In addition to meeting the education requirement above, candidates must possess the specialized experience below.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting all of the following:
Performing analytical work in collecting and preserving scientific information;
Understanding scientific research output, including traditional text-based literature, journal articles, and other forms of scientific and technical information to stay current in evolving information science field;
Utilizing both oral and written communication to create technical documentation, present briefings, and persuasively explain and defend policies and positions to large and small groups.
"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must (1) meet all of the requirements as described in this section; and 2) be rated "well-qualified", which is defined as having a score of 85 or better.
