You will serve as a CARGO SCHEDULER in the Air Terminal Operations Division of NAVAL AIR TERMINAL.

Duties

You will be responsible for the processing and air shipment of cargo, mail, passengers, and baggage for all agencies of the Department of Defense. You will serve as quality control checkpoint for all documentation pertaining to all missions particularly associated with special handling (hazardous) cargo. You will assist branch supervisor in establishing internal processing and schedules. You will compute an aircraft allowable cabin load to ensure proper weight and balance of the loaded aircraft.

Requirements

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-6 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Coordinating the movement of cargo/freight into, out of, or through terminals; 2) Utilizing knowledge of transportation industry/regulations to analyze and resolve routine problems of a procedural or factual nature; 3) Planning cargo loads (e.g., freight, mail and passengers) for departing aircraft; and 4) Using automated systems to input, research and analyze transportation-related data. Education

EDUCATION MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE AS FOLLOWS:

Successfully completed one full year of graduate education. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement.
OR
Must possess a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

The percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
