You will serve as an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC in the Production Trades Division, Industrial Execution Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. The primary purpose of the position is to perform maintenance and repair of fixed and rotary wing aircraft systems, airframes, components and assemblies supported by the organization. Duty Station: Coronado, CA

Duties

You will disassemble components/systems, troubleshoot, replace, modify, repair reassemble components/systems and test a variety of systems e.g., hydraulics, oil, fuel, landing gear assemblies and pressurization systems. You will perform maintenance and repair of fixed and rotary wing aircraft systems, airframes, components and assemblies supported by the organization. You will perform inspections, overhaul, and repair tasks on aircraft systems that contain interrelated components and parts. You will interpret guidance (e.g., blueprints, job orders, specifications, technical directives, maintenance instructions) to perform troubleshooting, repair, or installation on aircraft systems

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Incumbent may be required to work all shifts on a rotational basis and work overtime.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain required level(s) of certification and/or training.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION A) Have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including: Installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and performing final functional and operational tests on a variety of complex aircraft systems, their assemblies, components, and prototypes; Rig, function test, or troubleshoot systems to determine when they are operating properly and determine extent of adjustment or alignment needed; Disassembling components/systems and determining required repairs; Overhauling and repairing parts, accessories, and components of hydraulic/pneudraulic systems, environmental control systems, flight control systems and vent systems; Using a variety of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, snap rings, height and depth dial indicators, micrometers, and hand tools; Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic diagrams; and Working knowledge of safety regulations, practices and procedures. B. Have the ability to perform the full range of tasks including: Installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and performing final functional and operational tests on a variety of complex aircraft systems, their assemblies, components, and prototypes; Disassembling components/systems and determining required repairs; Overhauling and repairing parts, accessories, and components of hydraulic/pneudraulic systems, environmental control systems, flight control systems and vent systems; Using a variety of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, snap rings, height and depth dial indicators, micrometers, and hand tools; Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic diagrams; and Working knowledge of safety regulations, practices and procedures. C. Have the ability to perform common tasks including: Installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and performing final functional and operational tests on a variety of aircraft systems, their assemblies, components, and prototypes; Disassembling components/systems and determining required repairs; Using a variety of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, snap rings, height and depth dial indicators, micrometers, and hand tools; Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic diagrams; and Working knowledge of safety regulations, practices and procedures.
