About the Position: Serves as a Building Manager for the Joint Activities Command at Fort Liberty, NC.

Duties

Serves as a facility manager responsible for the day-to-day inspection and operator maintenance of power generation equipment, un-interruptible Power Supplies (UPS). Monitor all maintenance or supporting equipment installation projects for timeliness, correctness and completion. Provides technical expertise to the Directorate in reference to operations, maintenance and capabilities of the facilities. Exercises control and responsibility over the facilities, ensuring all necessary facility maintenance, repairs, alterations or modifications are accomplished on installed equipment and mechanical systems.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information SCI access for the duration of employment.
  • This is a drug testing designated position and requires the incumbent to complete a drug test examination prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position may require Temporary Duty (TDY) 30 days or less travel to various locations approximately 10% of the time.
  • This position has been designated “Weather Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work to support the mission operations.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. A preemployment physical is required, and as needed thereafter.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless previously completed.

Current Civilian Employees of the Organization In order to qualify, you must meet the education or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes1) Identifying improvements and maintenance needs for buildings; 2) Providing recommendation on building space utilization and allocation; AND 3) Monitoring work performance for completion; AND 4) Preparing appropriate reporting documentation such as work orders, memos, and service agreements. OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Facilities InspectionFacilities Operations and MaintenanceOral CommunicationProgram/Project Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
